Mostly you throw away old plastic bottles but if you have a green thumb and you are a creative person and you love to grow plants so that you can grow your favorite plants in these useless plastic bottles.

A plant needs a lot of space to grow but some plants can be grown in a little space. So that you can grow these plants in plastic bottles you just need to maintain a specific moisture level of soil and a specific water level in these bottles.

You can safely grow your favorite plants in these plastic bottles but in this article, we are going to describe the most suitable plants for growing in plastic bottles. 1. BASIL.

Basil is a perfect plant for growing in plastic bottles because it is very easy to grow basil. As basil is a long day plant it needs 6 to 8 hours of sunlight so place the plastic bottle near the window.  

For growing basil in plastic bottles fill the bottle with not your garden’s normal soil but fill it with potting soil mixture. You can buy potting soil from a nursery or you can prepare it at your home by just mixing 1 part peat moss, 1 part garden loam, and 1 part perlite.

Sow seed in the bottle, keep it near the window, and water it regularly then after 10 to 15 days you will see that seed germinated. And after two weeks of seed germination seedling will start appearing and after 1 or 2 months mature basil is formed. You can use your own freshly grown basil in your food or in a salad.


2.PARSLEY.

Just like growing basil, it is very easy to grow parsley you can easily grow parsley in plastic bottles.  Parsley is a sun-loving plant but it can also be grown in partial shadow but if you are growing parsley in a plastic bottle then place it near the window.

Fill the plastic soil with potting soil and also add some organic fertilizers and place it near the window. Water it regularly or after two days and then after two weeks, you realize that the seed germinates. 

And after seed germination seedlings will form after two weeks and then mature parsley is formed after  5 to 6 weeks. And then you can use your own homegrown parsley in cooking or in the salad.


3. OREGANO. 

It is very easy to grow oregano at home as it does not need more care it grows on its own. So you can grow oregano in plastic bottles because they have only 10 to 15-inch sizes. Sow seed in the plastic bottle after filling it with potting soil. 

Also, add some organic fertilizer and water regularly and place the bottle near the window and after two to three weeks seed germinated.  And after three to four weeks seedling will form and after 5 to 6  weeks a mature organ is formed and pick up it from the plant and use in cooking.


4. SPINACH.

It is also very easy to grow spinach because it does not need a lot of care so that it can be very easily grown in plastic bottles. Sow seed in a plastic bottle after filling it with potting soil and place it in a partial shade so that it grows well.  Water it regularly and after a few days the seed will germinate and after two to three weeks seedlings will appear. And mature spinach is formed after 6 to 7 weeks and used in cooking food and also in the salad.


5. THYME.

It is also very easy to grow thyme, and you can easily grow it in plastic bottles.  Just sow seeds of thyme in a plastic bottle fill it with potting soil and apply organic fertilizers. Thyme is also a sun-loving plant so place it near the window and water it daily or after two days.

You will see seeds germinated after 1 or 2 weeks and the seedling will start appearing after  4 to 5 weeks. And after a month mature thyme is formed you can use them freshly in cooking and also you can store them by freezing for 6 months for later use.


6. GREEN ONIONS.

It is also very easy to grow green onions in plastic bottles don’t plant too many onions in a plastic bottle, so plant 1 or 2 onions in a bottle. 

Green onions do not need a lot of care and sunlight so place the bottle in partial shade and just water regularly.  After two weeks seed germinates and seedlings will form after three weeks and you will get a fresh onion after 3 to four weeks picking freshly grown green onions and using them in cooking.


7. DILL.

Dill is an annual herb that is used for flavoring food and you can easily grow dill in plastic bottles.  Dill needs a 12 inches deep container so you can plant dill in a plastic bottle.

Dill does not need a lot of care, you just need to water regularly and place the bottle in the sunniest part of your room.  You will get freshly prepared dill just after a month and use it in your cooking for garnishing your salad and other dishes.


8. STRAWBERRIES.

You can also grow strawberries in plastic bottles because they can be easily grown in an 8-inch deep container.  So sow 2 to 3 strawberries seeds in a plastic bottle and fill the bottle with potting soil and water the plant regularly twice a day.  Strawberries are a long-day plant, and it requires 7 to 8 hours of light, so place the bottle near the window, and you will have your own fresh strawberries and eat them.
