But before using these palettes you should see the pallet stamp which shows that the wood is not made from toxic materials because it is not good for your compost.

There are many letters which display on stamps for example IPPC, EPAL logo, plus the letters HT and MB.  If you see letters MB on the stamp then avoid using this type of wood because it is treated with Methyl Bromide which is a toxic pesticide and not good for your composting material.

OTHER MATERIALS YOU NEED FOR THIS PROJECT

● Four corner brackets ( for joining the pallets together)

● A box of screws.

Drill

● Screwdriver for joining.

● Two pairs of the hook, 4 sturdy hinges, and eye latches, all this material is needed to cut the front palate in half, to create two hinged doors.

BUILDING OF A COMPOST BIN WITH PALLETS

Now making the compost Bin first you need to join the three palettes to make sides and back.  With the help of screws, you can do this step. First, stand them up, and after that lean them against each other and use screws to hold them in a place. Now you need two brackets for each corner, one for the top and one for the bottom. In this way, the walls of the compost bin will be completed.

Forth palate is used to make the door, by making the door the filling will become with. By using a saw you can cut the front pallet into two half pieces. After making the 2 doors from the 4th pallet, now attach the doors to the walls by using two strong hinges.

You need 2 hinges to make strong joins and it will swing very easily. You can stop the bottom door from catching by setting it slightly off the ground. Leave a gap between the bottom and top doors by using hooks and latches. Now use screws near the top of each door.

Your compost bin is now ready if you want to make it stronger than you can screw more plate brackets.
